Hailed as “the ensemble for Baroque chamber music” by German MDR and praised for its “warm tonal brilliance and razor-sharp definition…a dream team for this repertoire” by Gramophone Magazine, Percius Management is delighted to welcome violinist and conductor Johannes Pramsohler and his Ensemble Diderot to its family of artists.

Out today (5th April) is the first single ‘Nichelmann: Concerto Movement 1’ from Ensemble Diderot’s upcoming album “Berlin Harpsichord Concertos”, the latest in the group’s series showcasing members of the ensemble. The full album is released on 17th May on Audax Records.

Leading lights of the new generation in Early Music, Johannes and Ensemble Diderot take a dedicated but fresh approach to historically informed performance and are both prolific concert-givers and recording artists – they collect their International Classical Music Award (ICMA) at a ceremony in Valencia on 12th April for winning baroque album “Sonate a quattro”.

Ensemble Diderot is currently Artist in Residence at the Euregio Cultural Centre in Toblach, Italy, and at the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and is supported by the French Ministry of Culture. Upcoming performances include a tour of Austria and Italy with Bach: “Musical Offering”, its debut at Aldeburgh Summer Festival, performances of Trio sonatas in Lille Opera, Berliner Philharmonie and Sevilla Spain, and concerts at Rouen Opera and a return to Cologne Philharmonie. Of the group’s live performance, Bachtrack raved “We are short of adjectives when it comes to excellence: the Ensemble Diderot once again proves its pre-eminence on the baroque scene”.

“The clean, lyrical virtuosity from Johannes Pramsohler is the kind that begs you to simply sit back and soak it all up” (Gramophone Magazine). As much a virtuoso as an entrepreneur, director and pedagogue, Johannes Pramsohler is noted for his vision, collaborative direction and engaging programming. Johannes founded his own label Audax in 2013 to further Ensemble Diderot’s recordings and his collaborations have included leading and soloing with Concerto Melante (members and guests of the Berliner Philharmoniker on historical instruments), Le Concert d’Astrée, Concerto Köln, the European Union Baroque Orchestra, the International Baroque Players and The Kings Consort.

Upcoming recordings and touring programmes include Arias for Bass by Handel, Vivaldi, Monteverdi with Nahuel Di Pierro (release date October 2024), Arias by Mozart and contemporaries with soprano Adriana González (recording May 2024 for release early 2025) and Telemann Complete Quintets (recording winter 2024/2025 for release 2025).
