We’re pleased to announce that Eamonn Dougan has been appointed as Associate Conductor for the London Youth Choir. Building on its success since its inauguration in 2012, London Youth Choir has always attracted the best professional musicians to lead its musical activities and this news is one of several appointments made today. Eamonn Dougan will work primarily with the Chamber Choir.

“I’m delighted to be joining the London Youth Choir. With music education increasingly under threat in our schools, LYC provides essential opportunities for young singers in London. Rachel Staunton and her team are creating a hugely exciting and varied programme for their choirs and I’m very much looking forward to working with them.” Eamonn Dougan

Eamonn has been hailed for his inspirational work with singers in particular:

“Eamonn Dougan was such an inspiration with our singers last year that we had to get him back to launch the new choir.” Sir James MacMillan, The Cumnock Tryst

“he draws typically golden performances from his vocalists and mixed instrumental ensemble. (…) Sit back and relish this treasure trove which has clearly been prepared with passion." Gramophone (The Sixteen Pekiel CD, Coro)

Eamonn Dougan is the first Associate Conductor of the world-renowned vocal ensemble The Sixteen and of its junior cohort Genesis Sixteen, and is the founding Director of Britten Sinfonia Voices. In December 2015 he conducted concerts with the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Accentus and a Messiah tour for Britten Sinfonia (including a performance at the Barbican). Eamonn has recently recorded the fourth disc in his acclaimed Polish Baroque series with The Sixteen and plans for 2016 include a return to Accentus in Paris and debuts with Opera Rara and the BBC Singers.
