Marking the first collaboration between Nicholas Cleobury's Mid Wales Opera, violinist Rachel Podger's Brecon Baroque and students from the RWCMD, Handel’s Acis & Galatea has received 4 star reviews from both The Guardian and The Times amongst other favourable reports.

"Charm is written all over this new Mid Wales Opera touring production… I found the show irresistible."
Richard Morrison, The Times

"radiates joyful freshness, total commitment, and generous sharing of skills"
Birmingham Post

The production premiered in January in Cardiff marking MWO’s 25th anniversary, and has since toured throughout England and Wales. As The Guardian highlights "All credit to MWO and RWCMD alike for doing this work for the future of opera, and for continuing to bring quality work to parts of Wales where people would otherwise never see opera, especially in these days of financial cutbacks in the arts when it must be tempting to take an easier route."

The earlier performances and rehearsals united student players and singers with professionals, offering not only an immersive and extensive masterclass opportunity for the RWCMD students, but giving them the experience of being part of a touring company and all that entails.

Designed & directed by Annilese Miskimmon, upcoming opportunities to see the opera can be found here. The tour moves to the Theatre Royal Margate on Saturday 15 March.
